August 2, 2010 ~ There was so much BEEF in the Twitterverse today! I’m astonished by my own nexus to the eruptions and feel like I want to preserve the entirety of the ruckus here in my own little blog world. Especially since two of the main protagonists in today’s Art Tweeps Battles were subjects of my immediate past two posts: Museum Nerd and Mr. Dropout.
What up with that?!
I’m not going to editorialize much, so feel free to leave a comment with your own views on what went down. If you missed the #BEEF, here it is with links back to the status updates and replies to prove it (I couldn’t make this stuff up).
The first Tweets Transcript is from a debate between Museum Nerd and Tyler Green (Journalist, hockey fan, critic, editor of Modern Art Notes on Artinfo, U.S. columnist for Modern Painters magazine). The #BEEF seems to have erupted around 1:30pm when @MuseumNerd responded to this Tweet by @TylerGreenDC:
~10 people have DM’d/Tweeted/emailed about Toledo/Met. All whining NYers. None have been to @ToledoMuseum. #precisely
Earlier in the day, Tyler Green had published, Round 2 results: America’s Favorite Art Museum tourney. The #BEEF relates to this project.
The second Tweets Transcript is taken from the wreckage of a failed interview between Nate Hill (a.k.a. Mr. Dropout) and Hrag Vartanian, Brooklyn art critic and Editor of Hyperallergic. This interview took place in response to an earlier minor ruckus in the Twitterverse late last Friday into early Saturday.
